Aamir Khan’s residence under security:Police launch probe into viral post and audio after alleged Lawrence gang threat

Mumbai Police have launched an investigation after an alleged threat targeting actor Aamir Khan surfaced online following his reported third marriage. Security has been stepped up outside the actor’s residence in Pali Hill, Bandra West, after a purported audio clip and social media post began circulating on Saturday. Aamir, however, is currently out of the country.

According to a Hindustan Times report, police officials said they have not yet verified the authenticity of either the viral audio clip or the social media post. Confirming the development, Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti said the authorities are examining both to determine whether they are genuine.

The alleged threat reportedly claimed to be linked to the Lawrence gang and surfaced shortly after reports of Aamir Khan’s marriage to Gauri Spratt on July 5. The viral message also referred to the marriage using the term “love jihad.”

According to reports, a purported letter and audio message claiming to be from the Lawrence gang were circulated on social media. Police are investigating the origin and authenticity of both as part of the ongoing probe.

Aamir Khan responds to ‘Love Jihad’ allegations

Following his reported third marriage, Aamir Khan faced criticism on social media, with some users accusing him of promoting “love jihad.” Addressing the allegations in an interview with Rediff, the actor dismissed the claims and clarified that none of his marriages involved religious conversion.

“None of my three wives converted their religion. All three were civil marriages. My third wife, Gauri, is a Christian, not a Hindu,” Aamir said.

He further pointed to his family’s interfaith marriages to underline his stance. “My daughter Ira is married to a Hindu. Both my sisters, Nikhat Khan and Farhat Khan, are married to Hindu men. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian,” he added.

Aamir Khan's third wife, Gauri Spratt's father is of Tamil-British origin, and her mother is of Punjabi-Irish origin.
