In rural India, where awareness is limited and access to healthcare is difficult, that silence can cost lives.But sometimes, hope arrives in the form of a mobile cancer screening camp.Every camp organised by Saidham Foundation is not just about medical tests it’s about giving families another sunrise, another festival together, another chance to dream.In June 2026, under the SBI Foundation Cancer Care Project, the Foundation travelled across villages with a single mission: “No life should be lost because cancer was detected too late.”
Thousands of villagers, many of whom had never undergone a cancer screening in their lives, came forward with hesitation. They returned with awareness, confidence, and for some, a priceless second chance. During the month, the initiative reached 13,590 people through awareness and community outreach, while 4,247 beneficiaries received cancer screening and counselling.Among them was a 65-year-old woman. She walked into the camp believing she was perfectly healthy. She smiled, completed the screening, and waited patiently.
The results revealed something she never imagined early-stage breast cancer. That single screening changed everything. Immediate referral and timely treatment saved her life. Today, she doesn’t just call herself a survivor; she has become a voice of hope for every woman in her village.There was also a 68-year-old man who had spent decades consuming tobacco. During an oral cancer screening, doctors noticed suspicious changes that could easily have gone unnoticed. Further tests confirmed early-stage cancer.
Treatment began without delay, and today he is recovering with renewed purpose grateful not only for a second chance at life but also for the courage to leave tobacco behind forever.These are not isolated victories. They are reminders that behind every patient is a mother waiting to hug her children, a father determined to keep supporting his family, and grandparents who still wish to watch the next generation grow.The true success of Saidham Foundation cannot be measured only in numbers.
