Former Indian Premier League (IPL) mastermind Lalit Modi is finally planning a trip back to his home country. After being away for over a decade and a half, Modi recently revealed his intentions to visit India by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
This major announcement comes on the heels of a significant legal victory. An appellate tribunal recently set aside the majority of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) charges against him regarding the IPL 2009 Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. The long-standing legal dispute originally stemmed from the relocation of the 2009 IPL tournament to South Africa due to general elections.
Expressing his relief and excitement over the dismissed charges, Modi stated, “Sixteen years I have fought…I’m looking forward to coming back to India”.
In addition to his legal vindication, Modi also shared some heartwarming personal news that adds to his joy:
- His daughter is currently expecting a child.
- He is eagerly looking forward to welcoming his new grandson this October.
