Former Ford Employee Sues Automaker, Rejects ₹32-Lakh Rehire Offer After Wrongful Termination Over ₹190 Cookies.

A 60-year-old former employee of Ford Motor Company has initiated a lawsuit against both the automaker and its cafeteria operator following a highly distressing wrongful termination.

The ordeal began during an overnight shift when a self-checkout kiosk in the company cafeteria erroneously indicated that the employee had failed to pay for a packet of cookies worth a mere ₹190. Relying on the kiosk’s flawed data, the company wrongly labeled the 60-year-old worker a thief and abruptly terminated his employment, severely impacting his professional reputation and livelihood.

However, subsequent evidence completely exonerated the man, proving that the theft allegations were entirely unfounded. Acknowledging the severe error in their disciplinary process, Ford attempted to make amends by offering the ex-employee a ₹32-lakh compensation package alongside an offer to reinstate his job.

Feeling deeply humiliated and unjustly treated by the ordeal, the veteran employee outright rejected the company’s settlement. He has instead chosen to take legal action, suing both Ford and the cafeteria management company to hold them fully accountable for the false accusations and the resulting wrongful termination.
